Why tree service companies use vehicle magnets
Tree service trucks are parked in driveways and neighborhoods all day. A magnetic sign on your truck door tells every neighbor who sees your crew exactly what you do and how to reach you. It's one of the most cost-effective ways to generate referrals in residential tree care — each job site becomes a local advertisement for your business.
What to include on your tree service sign
- Company name
- Services — tree removal, trimming, pruning, stump grinding, emergency storm work
- Phone number, prominent and easy to read
- Website
- "Licensed & insured" if applicable to your business
- Emergency or 24-hour service if you offer it
Design examples for tree care
Tree service signs often use green and brown earth tones, sometimes with a simple tree silhouette or chainsaw icon. The most effective designs prioritize the company name and phone number in large, bold text, with services listed below. A clean two-color design — for example, dark green text on a white background — is easier to read at a distance than a multi-color layout with small details.
Readable sign design
Your sign will be read from moving vehicles and across yards. Use a font size of at least 1.5 inches for your company name and phone number. High contrast — dark on light or light on dark — matters more than color choice. Test your design by viewing it at 20 feet; if you can't read the phone number, it's too small.
Choosing the right dimensions
Most tree service trucks have steel doors that accommodate 18" × 24" or 24" × 18" magnets. Measure the flat area of your door, avoiding curves and body lines. If your truck has aluminum doors, magnetic signs will not adhere — consider alternative signage for those panels.
A note on regulations. Magnetic signs are advertising, not a substitute for any required business license, contractor registration, DOT number, or commercial vehicle marking. Check your state and local regulations to ensure your vehicle is properly identified and compliant.
